I saw this in a magazine and just couldn't resist trying to make it in PSP. This is My First Christmas Tutorial I have wrote. I hope I do this cutie justice.



This Tutorial was written using PSP V8.10 but can be done in earlier versions, the tools and some effects will be a bit different though.

You will need my Selections PSP V8 HERE  PSP V7 Here



1) Open a new transparent image 333x500, Add a new raster layer. It would be a good idea to name and save your image now so you will remember to Save Your Image Often.

2) Selections load/save selections, load selections from disk, load Left Leg. Flood fill with #CF8F6F, Selections Modify contract by 1 flood fill with #E0D0C0, Deselect. Save Your Image

3) Add a new raster layer, load Selections from disk, Load Left shoe and flood fill with black, Go to effects, 3D effects, Innerbevel Use the default round bevel changing only the Angle to 265 Deselect. Save Your Image

4) Highlight the shoe layer and merge down,Then click on layers at the top making sure you are on the merged layer and click on Layers, Duplicate Layer. (V7 Hide the first layer by clicking on the glasses then click on the top layer and right click to merge visible)



5) Go to Image at the top and click on mirror. Now you have two legs and shoes. Hopefully you have your shoes on the right feet also *smiles* ( You may need to move this in place later.) It should look like the image below. Save Your Image.

6) Add A new Raster Layer, Go to selections Load/Save Selections, load selections from disk, load selection back, flood fill with #E0D0C0, Deselect. Save Your Image.

7) On the same layer, Go to selections load, save selections, load selections from disk, load the Shade Hinney selection *smiles* flood fill with #CF8F6F, you will need to enlarge to be able to flood fill or use your paint brush to fill this selection, fill once or twice depending on how dark you want this. You may wish to use the pen and draw your own line or spray with the air brush for a nice effect. Deselect. Save Your Image

8) Add A new raster layer, Go to selections load, save selections, load selections from disk, load the Sweater Selection. Now is the fun part in V8, Using the color of your choice as the foreground and background colors. I used,#5C88A1 as my foreground and #6090BF as a background color. Use your paintbrush with the Chenille Preset as seen below. (In V7 flood fill with color of choice.) Paint your selection making sure not to leave any holes. (I have added a layer to the bottom and flood filled with white to make sure Mine is all filled in) Just make nice even strokes starting on the outside filling in and you should have no problem. Deselect. Save Your Image



9) Add A new raster layer, Go to selections load, save selections, load selections from disk, load Right Arm, Fill with same color and settings as in #8. Deselect. Save Your Image .

10) Go to Layers, Duplicate layer, Image mirror. Now you have two arms. Your image should look like the one below. Looks like a real sweater don't it? I just love this setting. Save your work.



9) Add A new raster layer, Go to selections load/save selections, load selections from disk, load the HEAD, flood fill with #CF8F6F, Selections Modify contract by 1 flood fill with #E0D0C0, Deselect. Save Your Image

10) Add A new raster layer, Go to selections load/save selections, load selections from disk, load the HAND selection. flood fill with #CF8F6F, Selections Modify contract by 1 flood fill with #E0D0C0, Deselect. Got to layers, Duplicate, then Image mirror and move into place if needed, now is a good time to make sure your leg and arm and hand the one's we duplicated and mirrored are all in a good position. Deselect. Save Your Image

11) Lets to a little decorating on this cute guy or girl depending on what colors you chose. Lets add a nose I have provided a nose selection So add a new raster layer Go to selections load/save selections, load selections from disk, load the selection for the NOSE. I used #DF8F50 a nice orange for a little carrot nose. I added the default inner bevel round and used the color #ECA528 as the shadow. Deselect. Save Your Image.

12) Add A new raster layer, Go to selections load/save selections, load selections from disk, load the selection for the cheeks. I used, #DFAF90. Deselect and add a gaussian blur of 10.00.

13) Now the rest of the face I will leave up to you. Some nice eyes and eyebrows a cute smile.

14) Ok let's decorate the sweater a bit. This will look great In any color you have chosen. If you used my colors I am using a foreground color of #AFC0CF. And a background color of #6090BF. Add A new raster layer, Go to selections load/save selections, load selections from disk, load the selection Sweater Decoration. Use the same setting for the paint brush and the preset Chenille we used in #8. Paint your sweater Decoration on the bottom of the sweater. Deselect. Save Your Image



14) Add A new raster layer, Go to selections load/save selections, load selections from disk, load the selection Sleeve Decoration. Paint as directed in #14. Go to layers Duplicate, then Image Mirror and move into place. Your image should look like the one below now. Except you have a face drawn.



15) Think we need a hat now don't you? Ok lets go for it. Add A new raster layer, Go to selections load/save selections, load selections from disk, load the selection HAT RIM. Paint with color of your choice using the same method as in the above for the sleeve decorations.

16) Add A new raster layer, Go to selections load/save selections, load selections from disk, load the selection HAT TOP , I changed my foreground color to #102F30 and left the background the same and used the same settings as before on the paintbrush. Deselect. Save Your Image

17) Add A new raster layer, Go to selections load/save selections, load selections from disk, load the selection HAT PUFF. I changed my background color to white and the foreground color to #AFC0CF. Use your paintbrush with the Chenille Preset, Using the same settings as before. Deselect. Save Your Image

Now you have a cute little snow man that "Flips For Snow" too.
