Mini Blog

This is one of many ways you can make a mini blog on your site.
This tutorial is my way of making one and it looks really great I think
Some members of my group wanted to make one so I wrote this tutorial for them and any one else who would like to make one.

This tutorial was done in psp8 but
Can be done in psp7 or probably most psp versions

You will want to find a copyright free image to use or one you make yourself I am looking for mine now. Then we can start the turorial size is important we want one we can resize to W335 x H299. A site you can get free stock photo's for private non commercial use is

FreeFoto.com

I got my image from free foto I am using in this tutorial I had to cut it a bit to resize it nicely. The mini blog on my site was from a photo. Now you should have your image resized. Save it in a folder you have made for mini blog images in psp format. Make a copy and we will work on the copy dont forget to put in folder that says where you got it from or put that on the name so you can give credit. Remember give credit on the page you use the image. I do whether they ask or not.
It's courteous and helpful to other people looking for free images. Ok Let's Get Started

1. We want to make an area where you put your information so what I do is pick a nice color from the image and make that your foreground color.

2. Use your Selection tool and set it on rounded rectangle. You want to make a rounded rectangle in the center area of your image use your ruler if you need it. For some reason I have been lucky using my eyes to get a center area you want it close to the top and bottom just leave a smidge of the photo here as you see below.

3. Add A new Raster Layer, Now you want to flood fill that selected area (on the new raster layer) with the color you have chosen Don't freak out we are going to lower the opacity on this layer so that you can still see the color but see the graphic in the background. Play with the opacity till you get the number you want. I have lowered mine to 60%. It depends on the background image and the color and other things what you lower yours to so experiment till you get one you like. Do Not Deselect.Remember to Save this.

4. Add A new raster layer. Go to selections then modify then expand by 3 Flood fill again. Then go to selections modify Contract by 4 then hit your delete key one time Now you have a nice frame around your colored area. It works better to do it this way rather than to do that first for some reason for me any way. You can deselect now. Click on Ctrl and D to deselect. Remember to save. You can view what I have so far below

5. At this point close your layer 1 and merge visible your two top layers and if you need to move this to center it better you can.

6. Now you want to add some writing to to the top you can put the name of your site or My Blog Or Like Me I am puting Spring time Add it to the very top of your outline you want space for your blog writing here. Choose what ever font you want and use the same color you used for your frame and blog area layers. I added a shadow to my font first change from a vector layer to a raster layer by right clicking on it. Then add a shadow of
H 1, V 1, Opacity 68-78, blur 0.
This works well for me. But this is up to you.

7. You can now Merge all layers visible when you have it nice and centered and at the top of your framed area see mine below.

8. Save your image to a folder as a .jpg Copy the html below and change the name of the folder and image to match the one that you have saved. And change the scroll bar colors to match your image also.

9. Right click inside the box below and select all. Copy and paste this in your html editor on the page you want to place your blog.

10. To add your text just go to the area that says "Enter Your Text Here" and backspace that out and add what you want to say on your blog. (To edit your text on your blog you can use your html editor or your html manager from your server). If you don't see your scroll bar you need to add more text or some line breaks. It really works. *smiles*

I Hope you had fun doing my little tutorial.
Good luck..
