To learn to use selections
Karren Of Artists4PSP has a good Tutorial

Artists 4 PSP

You will need A program like WinZipTo unzip them

For Mac users go here for a program called Zip It To Unzip the files

Ok ready to get started. You can choose any selection shape you like I just prefer the pentagon shape the hexagon works nicely too.

7) Start at just a smidge below your cutout and bring to just a smidge above the bottom if you used my coordinates for the candle I have included a selection of this if you would like to use it or make your own. you can use your mover tool and right click and move this to where you want it to be you can also use selection modify and make it smaller or larger.remember to save

8) Add A new Raster Layer, Apply a cut out go to effects 3D effects-cutout using these settings vertical= 2, Horizontal=23, Opacity=100, blur=5.00, shadow color= #312D55. Add a new Raster layer and Do another cut out changing only the Vertical to -2 and the Horizontal to -23 leave everything else the same. Remember to save Keep Selected.

It should look like this now.

9) Add A new raster Layer and Click on your Raster Layer two that should be the sphere, For a little more depth we are going to add a blinds texture, this will also blend the colors a bit. Go to effects, Texture Effects, Blinds

10) Use these settings. Width=3, Opacity=100, and color= #312D55, and check the box light/from left to top. DO NOT check Horizontal. Keep Selected. It should look like the image below. remember to save

11) Now find your image and place as a new layer inside the area we just made. Keep selected.

12) Open the glass image from the zip file. Edit copy and paste into selection... for a little extra decoration using the darker color we used #312D55, make this your foreground color.

13) Add A new Raster layer. Go to selections and expand by five and flood fill this area with our color or a gradient or pattern, of your choosing. Such as a nice gold. I liked the color for this particular image. Contract by 6 then hit delete on your keyboard just once. Remember to save.

How did I make the candle wick???

In Psp go to open then to your C Drive then open progam files find Jasc PSP 7
Open your main folder of your tubes in psp Click two times to open the rope you will see 12 images on it...
First go to colorize and put in 0 for hue and 0 for saturation
That will make it basicly colorless.
Go to effects Inhance photo, manual color correction and color it #AAAAAA.
Then we go to colors adjust brightness contrast and lighten it by 15
Now to make it a tube......

Export to picture tubes...
This is real important to folow here. Or you won't get the correct effect
6 Across And 2 Down for a total of 12, Placement mode Continous, Selection Mode Incremental, Step 1... Wow did i have to play with step to get that just right....
Now you have a candle wick too ...

14) Almost done now we just need to add our wick... Add a new layer and use your candle wick tube set around 35-40 in size. You can also add a flame from your psp tubes that came with the program.. And even animatate this. The Ideas are endless here. Now You have a couple of choices you can merge visible or save in layers so you can change the colors and the object inside to make more of these. Just make a copy and merge visible the copy and tube it or what you would like to do.... that's it...your all done...
