Paint Shop Pro 7 Tips 'N' Tricks
#1
How do I reset PSP ????
Close Paint Shop Pro. Launch Paint Shop Pro again.
As soon as you start the program, hold down Ctrl-Alt.
It will ask you to Delete all program registries.
Click Yes.
Click OK on the file association window.
Let it load
It starts you back as if you just
launched PSP for the first time
Don't worry you don't loose your tubes
It just resets the program

If you've got a little 7 glitch slowing things up
here's a quickie cleanup you can try:
Close all currently open running programs,
including Paint Shop Pro
Clean out your Windows Temp folder & delete
all those files. Yes, it is safe to dump them all.
Windows Explorer> Jasc Software Inc>
Paint Shop Pro7> Cache >
delete all the files in that Cache folder.
Don't worry, they'll rebuild when you restart the program.
Reset your PSP registry -> Do it either the traditional way or the easy way.
Fire up your PSP & see if things have improved.
If no, close PSP and try the suggestion below.
Control/Alt/Delete & End Task on "ALL" applications
and programs running in the background.
You'll need to leave Systray and Explorer running
along with any special mouse software, but generally
everything else can be shut off.
If your situation looks better, begin returning those
background running programs "one at a time"
to ascertain if any of those little fellas
just might be the interfering culprit.
Paint Shop Pro 8 Tips 'N' Tricks
1) For those of you that want the look and feel of
PSP version 7 IN version 8 of PSP, go to....
File/Workspace/Load.... choose PSP7
It looks exactly like 7, but still has all the extra
goodies.
2) This is from the Jasc group PaintShopPro8Beta and was
in answer to a question about exporting gifs in PSP 8.
This still applies:
The trick is in
knowing how.
Try this.
Run File > Export > GIF Optimizer.
On
the Transparency tab make the choice that fits whether you want
transparency or not and whether your image already has transparency
or not. That's straightforward. Ignore the Partial Transparency
tab if your image doesn't have partial transparency. On the Colors
tab is all the IMPORTANT stuff. SET DITHERING TO ZER0. Set Color
Selection to OPTIMIZED OCTREE or Optimized Median Cut, whichever
looks better. Start with 256 for the Number of Colors and reduce
this slowly if you need to make the file size smaller. Keep
checking the appearance in the right preview and the file size
noted under this preview. When you are happy, press OK. Your
files should look just fine and you will see in the preview
exactly what you will be getting."
