To learn to use selections
Karren Of Artists4PSP has a good Tutorial
Artists 4 PSP
You will need A program like WinZipTo unzip them
For Mac users go here for a program called Zip It To Unzip the files
This is what we are making today!
This Is What You Can Do With These
This one is using a
Super Blade Pro Preset For The Gold
Tools needed:
Jasc PSP 8 30 day trial
Super Blade Pro 30 day trial
If you don't have or want Super Blade Pro you can use a pattern or gradient, or use the pattern from Mahogany below.
Just in case you don't have the tear drop shape here is a selection I made for you.
Unzip to your selections folder.
Mahogany graciously allowed me to use her Gold-Glitter Fill
You can down load that below here. Save to folder of your choice
Thank you Mahogany... Miss you my friend...
Ready Set Let's Create
1) Start a new Image 350x400 Transparant, Using your shapes tool find the teardrop
make your background and foreground solid color, white
draw out a nice size teardrop. Make sure you have only anti-alias checked, can also use vector so you can get the shape desired. But right click and convert the layer to a raster layer after you have it the way you are happy with. Remember to save. Keep selected.
2) Use your magic wand to select the outside area of the teardrop. you will have ants around the tear drop and around the image space. you need to click on selections at the top then click on invert.
(for safe keeping you can do this if you would like to) Save this selection to the alpha channel name it teardrop, you can also save to your selections so you will have it to use again and again.
To save to alpha channel click on selections, follow the pictures below to save to your alpha channel click save. Keep selected.
3) Now we are going to go to edit then delete to get rid of the white for a few minutes. Now you have just the marching ants. Let's do a cut out, Add a new raster layer. And do a cut out with the settings you see below. AT the Top of Your Screen Go To Effects -> 3d Effects, ->Then Cutout.
Remember to save

4) You can save this teardrop to your tubes by making a copy click on shift and D use your crop tool to crop it close and then export it to your tubes folder or save in my documents in your psp8 files. Close this copy image once you have saved to tubes.
5) Working On our original now. Go to Selections at the top, Modify, Expand by 5. Add A new raster layer. And flood fill with white. Remember to save.
6) Now you can apply your favorite blade pro preset to make it gold or silver or just whatever color you would like. If you don't have blade pro or super blade pro you can add a pattern of your choice. I am using that wonderful gold-glitter fill By Mahogany. Remember to save.

7) After you apply your sbp preset or pattern fill, Go to selections, Modify, Contract by 6. Then hit your delete key on your keyboard. Click on CTRL + D to deselect. Close your background layer. A new tool available in PSP8 is we don't have to hide the bottom layer go to layers -> merge down, we still have our bottom layer, cool huh? You can make a copy and merge visible the copy and Export this to your tubes folder or save in your Documents In` your PSP8 Tubes Folder.
8) Now we are going to add a Image to this.
You should have two layers now; one with the tear drop merged and one of the background layer. Click on your background layer. Add a new raster Layer and add your image to that layer. You can click on the Merged layer now (the teardrop) and add a few sparkles if you like. This is really nice animated too.
9)
You will have to click on your background layer again.
And add a new layer and flood fill with color of your choice preferably the color of your page background or make a plaque with it. If you fill with your site background color or pattern. And place on your site it will appear clear.
Now you have a really cool tear drop globe. (Don't forget to merge visible) There are a lot of ways you can do this with many blade pro presets or patterns. I love the look with gold or silver. But it is fun with lots of different patterns too.
Here are two more I made using this method
